Melbourne

After Port Macquarie and Timbertown at Wauchope we travelled to just south of Melbourne to visit my Brother and his family. We stayed for just over a week and visited the famous Miss Marples Restaurant  on the Dandenong Mountain (we always go there as it is just to die for)  Pictures of the desserts we had will follow. I visited a craft show at flemington Racecourse and we also visited The manufactureres of our caravan "Retreat" - they were very helpful and courteous - gave us a tour of the workshop and showed us the various stages of manufacture and the different types of caravans that they make now. A day out with my brother took us to visit a place called Sky high on The Dandenong Mountain. this place has walking trails, gardens and picnic areas as well as a restaurant and novelty themes.

After Melbourne we drove home to my Daughters at Ormeau near the gold coast - we stayed over night at Peaks Hill near Parkes and we have been back home for nearly 2 weeks.
We are now at Boyds Bay Caravan Park at Tweed Heads for 1 week catching up with My Sister in law who we haven't seen since last April as they have been travelling too.

Port Macquarie

We stayed three nights at the Wyndham resort in Port Macquarie which is a lovely unspoilt part of the coast. the studio unit was beautiful and we were greeted with a bottle of wine and a free dvd hire for one night.
The next day we explored the beaches around Port Macquarie and of course visited the Historical Society Museum - which was excellent.
The third day we visited Timbertown in Wauchope - this is a replica of a sawmill town and we watched bullock teams pulling logs and rode in a carriage and on the steam train and finished the day off with a rum and raisin ice cream - yummy

After Port Macquarie we travelled to Batemans Bay another beautiful section of the coast - the most hazardous part of this journey was not the bushfires around Sydney but driving through Sydney and we didn't even touch the centre it was a Nightmare with a capital N
We stayed one night there and visited a friend we met last year whilst travelling. It was good to see them again and to know that they are enjoying travelling too. Looking forward to catching up again.
We then drove all day to Melbourne to my brother's house and arrived there about 9pm that night and are having a wonderful time catching up.
Will post pictures of Timbertown later as I haven't put them on the computer yet.

Movement

Well we have been at my daughters for three weeks now and had a great time. we are off  tomorrow to Melbourne to see my brother, but we are not taking the caravan. I have booked three nights in Port Macquarie at a Wyndham resort and then we are travelling to Batemans Bay for a few nights (possibly) and then on to Melbourne for a week or two.
will post photos of Port Macquarie when we get there.
Should be away for 3-4 weeks then if we are back in time we will be going to Straddie with my youngest daughter for a few days and then possibly Darlington Park or Flannagans Reserve (not tried this one before)
We will see how we go

Moore Park Beach

Well, we have been in Bargara for nearly three weeks now and loving every minute of it. We decided to visit Moore Park beach yesterday for a spot of fishing in the surf. As you can see from the pictures there was no competition and the weather was just perfect. Didn't catch anything but that doesn't matter we enjoyed the sun and the sea air.

On the road again

Hi there , long time no post. We stayed at my daughter's house for three weeks and then went to a  friends house for another two weeks and set off on our travels again yesterday.
Last night we stayed at Six Mile Creek rest Area just below Gympie. This is a free camp with toilets. water and dump point, but oh so noisy, the trucks never stop all night so we decided to travel on this morning to Gin Gin. We are staying the night in the showgrounds very good value for money at $18 a night for power, water , showers and toilets and a dump point.
The weather is gorgeous very sunny and warm as long as the wind stays away, but still cool at night time.
We are off to my favourite place tomorrow "Bargara" and will be staying at "The Absolute Ocean front Tourist Park" where we always stay. The owners Glen and Chris are wonderful and I will be able to catch up with my friend who lives there.
Not sure where we are going afterwards will let you all know later.

Alice Springs

Alice Springs is the gateway to the East and West MacDonnell Ranges, we didn't visit them this time as we were only staying 5 nights and visited all the attractions that Alice has to offer. Our first stop was the National Transport Hall of Fame and we spent nearly all day there, there was so much to see.
Next day we visited Anzac Hill, Adelaide House (the first hospital in the territory) the old Hartley street School (were they still take todays pupils for lessons the old way). Next was Emily Gap and Jesse Gap and the old Stuart Town Gaol. Lastly we visited the OlivePink Botanical Gardens unusual gardens as these were desert gardens - very pretty area.
We have now decided it is too cold to go straight down the middle and are heading back to Queensland tomorrow. We are going home to see our family for a few weeks as we miss them.

This beautiful metallic structure caught my eye

Think this car has been here a while as the tree has grown through the middle
