Travelling on

We left Lightning Ridge on Friday 29th March (Good Friday) and travelled to a free camp at Surat - by the river. This camp is run by the Surat Fishing Club and is a lovely stop over. Clean toilets and drinking water and a dump point. Fishing is good in the river but lots of flies and midges as the river was recently in flood.
We drove into Roma, to visit and made the mistake of going when a street market was on and it was the Saturday in between the Easter holidays - everybody and his dog was in Roma that day. We haven't seen this many people for a while.
We stayed at Surat for the Easter holidays and travelled on Tuesday to the Weir at Chinchilla. Small free camp with linited space for larger rigs but we managed to get in and stayed there over night. We were right next to the dam and Stephen went fishing again. The toilets left a lot to be desired but there was free power but no water.
From there we were going to stop at the weir just before Gayndah but this site was so small that once we were in there was no room for anyone else and a lot of backpackers seemed to be staying in tents at this stop, it was dirty and smelled but the toilets were clean.
So we travelled on to Biggenden and stayed at the council caravan park, beautiful place and gorgeous amenities and the cheapest stop we have had $24 for one night with power water and amenities. We were going to stay another night but my sister in law phoned and said she would be in Bargara the day after so we rang the Absolute Ocen Front Tourist park (where we were staying) and asked if we could come a day early, so now we are here for 2 weeks.

Surat Free Camp
